Blog Post 18: Costuming

For my project, the costuming i've chosen is clothing traditional to that of late 2000's fashion. Simply put, the costumes are just average attire any teenager would wear, only difference being is that said article of clothing worn has to appear as if it was made in 2010 or sooner. The main characters of the opener will be wearing  late 2000's shirts, I.E. brands such as Tapout, Shady LTD, and Metal Mulisha. I've decided upon this kind of attire for two reasons. First, it is clothing I already own, and clothing my partners own, thus there will be no need for further expenses on costumes. Second, this gritty type of 2000's clothing is one my brother wore frequently in the late 2000's, so to film w a project set in 2010 with the same kind clothing he wore back then gives me a sense of joy and excitement.

Now aside from the actual clothing, I do intend on having each character wear accessories, old 2000's jewelry. Pieces such as studded bracelets and cuffs, fleur de lis pendants, and kandi bracelets, all of which being rather popular in the mid to late 2000's. Another aspect of costuming I am considering utilizing is spiky hair, a staple in 2000's culture. Got2b hair spray and hair glue will be the products used in styling. For separate unwearable props, I have in mind to utilize a fushigi ball, a 2010 as seen on tv product, for a skit in the opener.
